Beautiful Positano & The Almalfi Coast

Italy is the perfect amalgam of the ideal vacation - picturesque scenery, mouthwatering food, and beautiful people. I've always lusted over the Almalfi Coast, since its stunning cliffside is more than breathtaking in photos. I could only imagine what it would be like to see this village on the pebbled beachfront for myself. The Almalfi Coast is composed of 13 small villages (“13 Pearls of the Amalfi”), and some of the most popular include Ravello, Amalfi., and of course, Positano.

We took a day trip from Naples since we found a cheap flight from Santorini, and decided to spend a few nights exploring the city first before going to Almalfi. You can buy train tickets from Napoli Centrale to Sorrento for less than 3 Euros, and the ride takes about an hour and fifteen minutes since its at the very end of the line. Trains run pretty frequently, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a time slot that works for your itinerary. From Sorrento, find the Sita buses waiting for passengers just outside the station. For 8 Euros, you can get a hop on hop off ticket that is valid for 24 hours. The ticket allows you to visit all 5 villages so you don't have to worry about individual fares. Each bus stop takes you very close to where you need to be for the "classic postcard view", so just follow the path that leads into the narrow streets lined with boutiques and cafes. Since we only had a day to explore, we decided to head to Positano, which we unanimously agreed was the village we wanted to see the most. We were prepped for a hike, but due to time constraint were not able to hike between the villages, which is something you definitely should try to do during your visit to the Almalfi coast. Below are a few super helpful websites that people we know have used for their hiking reference: Footpaths on the Almalfi Almalfi Home Tips, Tricks, and FYIs -There is a beach along the coast, so bring your swimsuits and plenty of sunblock - Get to Sorrento early in the morning or mid - afternoon for your hike. Temperatures will be lower so you aren't as exhausted. (Bring water!) - Check the train and bus schedules online so you can coordinate the times for both your train and bus.do the same when you arrive at each station for the return so you don't waste time waiting for the next bus or train if you miss it.
