Following our epic European adventures in the beautiful South of France, we really couldn't stop talking about what it was going to be like once we finally went home. Now that we have both graduated college and are set to start our full-time, corporate jobs in the Big Apple, life really seems to be a bit less unpredictable without our academic boundaries. New York City is a place that we are so proud to be familiar with, and after traveling so much this past year, we really appreciate this city so much more. There truly is no city in the world quite like it, and we wanted our first post after Europe to be in true New York fashion. So where did we head to? Times Square! NYC has a very eclectic mix of people, and its safe to say that the fashion game here is strong. We wanted our outfits to make a statement, which is why we opted to style bold pieces for this look!
Mel: I have a pretty casual and simple style, usually spending most of my days in comfortable jeans and a tank. However, in the spirit of being bold and celebrating our official return to the Big Apple, I decided to go for a more daring look since anything goes when it comes to fashion in the city that never sleeps. I recently bought this floral printed blouse on sale at Zara and have been obsessed with it ever since. It is silky, thin and lightweight - perfect for the heat wave that is currently happening in the city or can be easily worn when temperatures are a bit cooler by simply throwing a cardigan or blazer over it. Since my top is already patterned, I wanted to keep my bottoms solid, yet still interesting, so I decided on a feather skirt to add a little texture to this look. A belt cinched at my waist, and my trusty Dolce Vita block heels were the finishing touches before I headed out the door.
Jess: Something that you might not know about me, unless you've walked into my closet, is that I absolutely love jackets and blazers. I think they really are the finishing touch to any outfit, even more so than shoes or jewelry sometimes. One of the worst things about the extreme heat in the summer is that I have to tuck these pieces away. But as we head into August and cooler weather soon, I thought it would be time to start wearing them again! This all-white ensemble incorporates a masculine, boyfriend blazer and a pair of delicate, lace shorts. I love how the shorts add texture and dimension to the look. These lace wedges are my go-to since they are so comfy, and I can literally walk all day in them in the city.
We're so excited to take you along on as we continue to explore every nook of the city! We have a lot in store so stay tuned :)
Love Always,
Jess & Me
