2016 Fall Feels: Sleeves Revival

September has always been a pretty unique month, since all we've known for most of our lives was that it marked the start of new beginnings. We often started school right at the end of summer, and it's kind of strange that the routine is now changing since we have graduated college and started working full time in the city. Our friendship began in a small town in New Jersey, and even though we don't find ourselves here too often anymore since we moved out; we do visit our hometown every now and then to see family and old friends. Since most of our blog posts have been centered around our travels in Europe and New York City, we wanted to share a glimpse into our lives in the less glamorous, but still equally as exciting parts of central New Jersey! In anticipation for the fall season, we are sharing a "Fall Feels Series" where we will be sharing one trend per week for the next three weeks! This post was shot at a nearby farm about 15 minutes from our homes where we often visit in the fall to go fruit picking. Luckily, peach picking season has just started, so we stocked up on some of the juiciest peaches!

One of the biggest trends this fall is sleeves sleeves and more sleeves! We have been seeing this look within the past year with the re-arrival of bell and billowy sleeves, and luckily they remain the focus of any outfit this season. Extra long sleeves and cape styled tops are also making their appearances and we've each chosen one of these trends to style in this post!

Jess: I'm not sure exactly when my obsession with button down shirts started, but this is definitely one of my favorite pieces since it's so full and regal. I love the slight bell sleeve, although I admit that I wasn't sure if I loved the extra-long sleeve look at first. Since the top is pretty heavy in terms of material, I balanced it with a tribal mini skirt for some extra fun and color.

Mel: If you have been following Penny and Dash for a while, you probably know all about my new found obsession with rompers this summer! Of course I could not stay away from rompers too long, and I picked up this absolutely gorgeous cobalt one from Nordstrom. It is a rather frills free and basic romper, but the low cut neckline exudes some sexiness and boldness to this outfit! One of my favorite things in this romper is definitely the cape style look since it is quite rare to find in rompers and it brings an element of class to any look. To keep this look day friendly, I added a floppy, felt hat and some lace-up booties.
