Labor day weekend is the 3-day weekend that symbolizes the official end to a carefree, worry-free summer when life is spent lounging at beaches, hosting backyard barbecues, or just plain sleeping for an extra morning. We wanted to celebrate the best three months both of us have ever had by giving Summer 2016 the proper send-off. Since the weather this past weekend was absolutely gorgeous (sunny and 75 degrees), we took full advantage by grabbing a blanket and some food for a picnic at Central Park. We picked up a few items at Whole Foods since it was right around the corner. A few salads, fruits, and of course a sweet dessert (fruit tarts are our fave!) were all we needed for a relaxing and yummy afternoon.
Jess: Royal Blue is one of my favorite colors to rock in the summer because I think it really brings out my tan. This polka dot dress from Kensie is super flirty, and the mini flutter sleeves make it a bit whimsical. I love the beautiful button detailing running down the center of the front of the dress. I paired the whole look with some lace-up nude flats that are both cute and comfy.
Mel: Since the weather wasn't extremely hot as it had been the past few weeks, I wore a tea length dress I got on sale at J-crew! I normally opt for shorter dresses, but I absolutely fell in love with the pinstriped pattern and cut of this dress, and I simply could not walk away. For casual days, I like to wear my trusty Tory Burch flats and my cat-eye sunglasses from Quay. This dress is so versatile that it can be worn at fancier events paired with heels or even at the office with a cardigan thrown over.
