Weekends in NYC usually involve lots of relaxing, shopping, and of course, brunch. Matcha has been all the craze lately, and we think it's pretty much here to stay. We headed to Chalait, off of Broadway, early in the morning for some delicious matcha lattes and avocado toast to start off our day.
It's a bit ironic that even though we have to dress up for work every day during the week, we love the weekends because we can finally break out our casual clothes again and enjoy the other 50% of our closet. Bell sleeves and fringe have been dominating the runways for the past few seasons, and it seems like people love this trend as much as we do since we've been spotting them on the streets all the time.
Jess: I saw this blouse at Topshop in an oxblood color and obsessed over finding it in my size since I absolutely loved the cut, style, and pretty much everything about it. They only had the blush version left, since an associate told me it was one of the best selling pieces in the last couple of weeks. Luckily for me, I also love pink and blush clothing, so I picked it up and began day dreaming of all the ways I could wear this top. I love how easy it is to pair such a statement blouse with simple black jeans and flats, and still have the appearance of looking like I put more time and effort than I really did. I chose a beautiful, laser-cut leaf necklace for the look, but have also worn it with a pearl choker, blue denim, and sandals.
Mel: With the Fall weather the cold winds finally making its way to the east coast, it was time to do a little bit of wardrobe swapping by trading in off-the-shoulder tops for thick sweaters, leather jackets, and a few other key pieces of my tiny closet in Manhattan. One of the tops that I could not wait to wear again is this this little navy suede number from Zara that I bought during Black Friday last year. It is such an understated shirt, but the fringe detailing on the sleeves bring a little "oomph" to the look. To keep this outfit casual and brunch appropriate, I wore my favorite white jeans from Topshop and finished the look off with a gold necklace and my blue velvet booties.
Matcha Hot Spots in Town
Chalait (@chalaitnyc) : Obviously one of our faves since we featured it in this post. Get your fill of matcha lattes, cappuccinos, and even hot chocolate. They also have a great snack menu of avocado toast and other yummy bites.
Bibble & Sip (@bibbleandsip): Some of the best matcha lattes and cream puffs in town. It's always super busy here, but so worth the wait. The best part -the store is decked out in llama decorations and cute touches (Jess' dream)
Cha Cha Matcha (@chachamatcha): Matcha Heaven. Coconut matcha lattes, matcha soft serve, matcha donut-croissants, and even matcha banana bread. Need we say more?
Cafe Zaiya (@zaiyany): We come here ALL THE TIME to get our fix of matcha green tea ice cream. The best thing by far on their menu is the matcha green tea and black sesame soft serve swirl. Head up the block to the the New York Public Library (if you can make it there before it melts), and enjoy your cone or cup while people watching!)
