With Halloween just a few short weeks away, pumpkin season is officially underway, and we couldn't make a trip home without stopping by our favorite market in town. Besides spending our free time stuffing our faces full with apple cider donuts (seriously, if you never tried them, you really need to go pick a few up asap!!) and banana raisin bread, we have also been stalking the internet/blogs to see how we can revamp our wardrobe to fully take advantage of Fall weather. Lately, we have been inspired by celebrity street style looks (Gigi Hadid's and Kendall Jenner's models-off-duty wears are our absolute favorite. Also, please tell us how they look flawless in every. single. photo.) and noticed how models, actresses, and singers have all boarded the overalls trend train that returned in early winter of last year. We actually bought the same exact pair of overalls from H&M last year (in different colors before) and thought it would be a fun post to share how we personally style them.
Jess: I'm not going to lie, I think I only bought these overalls because Melissa asked me for my opinion on getting the olive green version and some part of me just had to pick up the black one (FYI this happens A LOT). Overalls are actually very out of the ordinary for my style and taste, but after trying full length jumpsuits and falling in love with them last summer, I realized how versatile and fun a pair of denim overalls would be. I decided to layer a lace crop top underneath since it gives the outfit that feminine touch and since I love lace as much as I've been obsessed with matcha lattes lately. I decided last minute to actually not wear one of the shoulder straps and let it hang loose for that "effortless look". I love this because it makes the outfit asymmetrical and also shows off a bit more of the details of the crop top. I decided to add in blue denim with my jacket I've had since high school from good ole Hollister, and some nude booties from Aldo!
Mel: My love for overalls began last year when I spotted Taylor Swift sporting a black one, similar to Jess', last fall in NYC. I have been waiting to break them of out of my closet since the lazy days of summer, and with the onset of the season of layers, it was time to finally take them out for a wear again. Since most of my college days were spent lounging make-up free in sweats or pajamas (literally the ones I slept in..so unhygienic. Please don't judge me), these overalls were considered one of my more put together and "fashionable" looks for class. I styled them for this post similar to how I styled them last year, with a thin white long sleeve crop top under and some booties. To keep my outfit from being a little too basic, I threw on Jess's navy beanie (one of the key perks of being the same size as your best friend is stealing/borrowing her things) and layered a few delicate necklaces together to add some bling. In terms of the fit of the overalls, they run very, very small and are a bit tight for me, so I do suggest sizing them up if you do buy them (or anything really) from H&M. I do believe these were a size 2, but they fit like a 000, so if you have any hacks on how to stretch out denim, please let me know!
