The Lotte Palace here in New York City is an institution to say the least. It’s the home of our favorite it-girl, Serena Van der Woodsen, of Gossip Girl AND is one of the most Instagrammed places in New York during the holidays because of their impressive decorative display for the season. We both actually either live or work close to its Madison Avenue location, but for some reason have never made it to see it ourselves throughout the years. Let’s just say that it definitely lived up to our expectations, and we felt the magic around the majestic Christmas tree in the hotel's front courtyard and in the grand lobby of the palace.
We're all about adding a little bit of festive into our corporate outfits, so we wanted to showcase a few ways to bring the holiday cheer to the workplace!
Jess: Winter presents a special challenge since I find myself trying to find items to wear to work without freezing on my way there and back home. I'm pretty safe once I get into the office or the client site, but I seriously dread the seeimngly endless walk in the cold. For this reason, I've been stocking up on winter work pants, and these in particular caught my eye a few months ago when Mel and I were casually shopping uptown. I was so obsessed with them because of the cute frill detail, and I could picture myself wearing them for a normal day out with friends or to work with a dress shirt or blazer. I held off on the purchase for a bit since I knew it would go on sale during Black Friday for an extra 30% off. It was the first thing I put into my cart, and I am so happy I finally own it now! I kept the look pretty simple with a striped black and white button down and a beautiful cotton red scarf that was gifted to me a few years ago. I added one of our favorite pairs of suede shoes we’ve been rocking around lately (good thing we have the same shoe size!) for some unexpected color and height.
Mel: During the month of December, I like to take full advantage of the joyous Christmas spirit and deck myself out in printed sweaters, sparkles, and plaid. I picked up this tartan skirt from J.Crew Factory during their Black Friday sale and completely fell in love with the pattern. Since I wanted all eyes to remain on the skirt, I stuck with neutrals by tucking a chiffon bow-tie shirt underneath the skirt and layering a black velvet peplum over to keep me warm. Chiffon was a bit too sheer for the arctic blast NYC just suffered through this past week, so layering up made a huge difference in surviving the cold. I also recently picked up these leopard kitten heels from a J.Crew sample sale, which is the perfect finishing touch to this festive ensemble.
We couldn't be more excited to round out the end of 2016 back at home in New Jersey with our families and our pets! We have some super exciting plans and travel adventures coming up in the new year and we can't wait to share them with you guys! What are you most excited for this holiday season? Let us know in the comments below!
As always, thank you so much for reading our blog :)
Love,
Jessica & Melissa
