Jess: I am definitely no stranger when it comes to 42nd street of Manhattan. From Times Square and Bryant Park to Grand Central Terminal, I have split my time pretty evenly between these 3 places in the last six months because of work. Mel's return to the big Apple from her South Africa adventures gave me some time to think about where we should take Penny and Dash next, and I was quite stumped for a bit until it finally came to me. I'm always at Grand Central Terminal to catch trains, but the hustle and bustle of the mornings and evenings home are so hectic that it's hard to take that time to admire the beauty of both its interior and exterior sometimes. The lesson here is to always take a few extra moments to look up and around at your surroundings because you might just miss something!
Grand Central is now synonymous with work to me, so we took our Corporate Classics series here with our fifty shades of blue. One of the colors I own the most clothing of is actually blue, and I love nothing more than sporting a monochromatic look like this once in a while when I feel a bit too rushed to mix and match other colors together. Patchwork denim is trending for Spring, but jeans are definitely not the only option for sporting this trend, especially when we are going for an outfit that is more appropriate for the office. I've always loved denim chambray tops for as long as I can remember, so a dress version in this flattering silhouette was a pretty exciting find for me. For the cooler mornings here in NYC, a coat is definitely still a staple wardrobe piece. I threw on this light powder blue coat for some extra warmth, and added some suede pumps to add even more blue to my outfit. I love the look of blue and orange or yellow paired together, so when searching for the perfect accessories, I chose this beautiful yellow leather backpack that can fit all my essentials for work (along with another 101 unnecessary items in a girls' bag). Bonus points for matching the yellow cabs!
Mel: This past week has been quite a struggle for me adjusting back to my everyday 9-5 routine after an amazing 10 days abroad in South Africamonths to wear ( I got them on sale at Steve Madden back in November and still have not had the opportunity to show them off yet) to complete my look! Of course, if the fringed heel is a little too risque for you for the office, a pair of navy blue to keep the outfit monochromatic or yellow/hot pink pumps for an unexpected pop of color will do the trick as well. . Luckily for me, I escaped the winter storm that left the city with over 1 foot of snow and instead was welcomed back with a beautiful weekend that had temperatures hovering in the 60s! The warm weather inspired us to hit up some of our favorite stores to stock up on a few new pieces for the upcoming Spring season, and two of the items I picked up are a dress and a duster from Zara. Lately I have been keeping my eye out for an oversized dress shirt that I can belt and wear as a dress, so imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon this piece that is actually meant to be worn as dress AND one that I can wear to work! The striped robe-like tie detail is what really attracted and sold me this dress since it not only accentuates my waist, but also brings a little bit of drama with the unique wrapping. I threw on a black waistcoat to layer on top (it is still February after all), and brought out my favorite spring/summer heels that I have been waiting for
Love Always,
