Mel: One of the best things about moving to a different city or area is discovering all the new places in your neighborhood. I have been spending the past few weekends exploring different parts of Brooklyn since I neglected that borough when I lived in Manhattan last year. Along with Prospect Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park, one of my favorite places I stumbled upon is Industry City, which is a collection of warehouses that offers dining, shopping, and fun activities (ping pong, mini golf, etc). Since I am only a couple of blocks away from Industry City, I have already spent many Friday nights grabbing drinks with my friends and relaxing in the outdoor space of Industry City. Similar to Jess, I stuck with a black and white theme for our hangout session with white tee with corset detailing from Zara and black scallop shorts from Madewell. The corset belt trend has been all over runways and fashion blogs this spring/summer season and it was about time for me to jump on that bandwagon after spotting it during the Zara summer sale.
Jess: One of my most worn clothing items of all time is a black and white gingham cotton dress I bought a few years back. Since then, I’ve always had a thing for this retro print, and this cute pair of embroidered shorts easily caught my attention on while I was online shopping during the bi-annual Zara sale. I paired them with a simple, white crop top for this clean summer look! High-waisted shorts and crop tops are such an easy pairing since they are definitely a fool-proof outfit choice for my casual outings and for going out at night. Best of all, you can show off that summer bod that you spent all winter working out for!
