Bowery Electric

There's nothing like unleashing your inner rocker-chic every now and then, and we felt inspired to put together a couple of looks for you guys after coming across a few statement pieces as we went shopping last weekend for our upcoming trip!

Mel: I've always associated patent leather pieces with a biker-chick look, and I couldn't help but build my outfit after spotting this awesome skirt at TopShop. There's nothing like a classic pairing of white and red with black, though I decided to add a fun print to my outfit with a red lips patterned blouse. Although the look was already pretty loud without accessories, I added a few more statement pieces to really amp everything up another notch. I love the new earring trend with three satin balls (one of the easiest ways to jazz up a very simple outfit, or to elevate any look), and will definitely be rocking these this Summer and Fall.

Jess: I normally steer away from red in my wardrobe, but this mock turtleneck sweater really called my name when we were browsing around TopShop. I realized later that I was subconsciously channeling my girl with this Selena Gomez look. I love how versatile this denim overall dress is, since you can basically pair it with any variety of top underneath depending on the season and occasion. I could see myself wearing a lace cami underneath for the warmer weather this month, or swapping it for a fancier blouse for a nice brunch on the weekends. The possibilities are seriously endless! I added a yellow bag for an extra pop of color to my outfit, and I couldn't be happier that I pulled this all together in just a few minutes!

Outfit Details Jess: Denim Overalls - Topshop, Sweater - Topshop, Crossbody Bag - Zara

Mel: Blouse - Topshop, Skirt - Topshop (similar), Crossbody Bag - Zara, Earrings - BaubleBar
