A Match(a) Made in Heaven: Top Matcha Spots in NYC

When it comes to my love for matcha, I am definitely proud and unapologetic. My trip to Japan this past year especially reinforced this obsession since I pretty much spent every single day eating everything from matcha soba noodles and soft serve ice cream to freshly made mochi and our all-time-favorite, matcha lattes. I've spent a lot of time over the last few years trying out different matcha hot spots, and I'm sharing with you all of my top picks!

Cha Cha Matcha

373 Broome Street, New York, NY 10013 (Nolita)

327 Lafayette Street, New York, NY 10012 (NoHo)

1158 Broadway, New York, NY 10001 (NoMad)

Boba Guys, which is located in both East Village and in the Lower East Side, is not particularly known for their matcha, but rather for their bubble teas in general. It's a trendy hot spot with unique flavors, but their horchata and matcha bubble tea is definitely worth noting. It's sweet, rich, and absolutely delicious!

This classic Soho matcha stop is difficult to miss since the storefront is hot pink and very difficult to miss. They offer seasonal flavors so be sure to check out those specials! Cha Cha also has some amazing soft serve ice cream that is usually a combination of matcha green tea + another unique flavor. Make sure to try it!

Matcha Bar

Address: 256 W. 15th Street, New York, NY 10011

I've visited Matcha Bar on multiple occasions while I'm out in the Chelsea area either shopping or grabbing food at Chelsea Market. They have a very extensive matcha menu that includes quite a few coffee and matcha combos that are unique and delicious! Matcha Bar also has one of the best snack selections of the list, so grab something sweet and wash it down with your latte.

Boba Guys

23 Clinton St, New York, NY 10002

11 Waverly Place, New York, NY 10002

Nohohon

9 St Marks Place, New York, NY 10003

Hidden at the top of a staircase on St. Mark's is a tiny matcha shop that can fit about a total of 3 people. Nohohon is definitely one of the most expensive on the list (with a small hovering at around $7 after tax), but also one of the most delicious. Here, you have the option of choosing red bean (azuki) as your base which is not only authentic, but so yummy.

Bibble & Sip

253 W 51st, New York, NY 10019

If you find yourself around Times Square and Rockefellar, make sure to stop by Bibble & Sip for an afternoon matcha latte and matcha cream puffs for the perfect pick-me-up. This place is also a bit pricey, but nonetheless offer a solid drink and by far the best sweets selection on this list!

Greecologies

379 Broome Street, New York NY, 10013

One of my favorite places to go for a perfect rose matcha latte is Greecologies in Nolita. It's the perfect cozy spot to get some work done with a delicious selection of drinks to pass the time. They are better knwon for their fresh yogurt bowls, but I come there just for the rose matcha, which has yummy rose petals at the bottom of the cup.

Sweet Moment

106 Mott Street, New York, NY 10013

These are definitely the cutest drinks you ever did see. We love having our coffee wink back at us too! Surprisingly, the matcha and red velvet lattes at Sweet Moment are served cold in tea cups, but we savored each and every sip. Looking for a cool, but basic Instagram coffee flat lay? Look no further!

FIKA

Multiple Locations

Fika is a Swedish cafe that has taken over NYC with many locations scattered around Manhattan. They aren't particularly known for their matcha, but it is on the menu and you can't go wrong with ordering, especially if you pass by one and aren't exactly in a tea or coffee kind of mood.

Bluestone Lane

417 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10024 (Upper West Side)

435 W 31, New York, NY 10001 (Manhattan West)

30 Carmine Street, New York, NY 10014 (West Village)

1085 5th Ave New York, NY 10128 (Upper East Side)

51 Astor Pl, New York, NY 10003 (Astor Place)

Bluestone is a classic for us, since we have been here together multiple times and have always enjoyed their matcha. We find their matcha to be a bit more bitter than most, but we always add simple syrup to our liking and it turns out to be delicious and still strong!

Maman

239 Centre St, New York, NY 10013 (SoHo)

22 w. 25th st. New York, NY 10010 (NoMad)

211 West Broadway New York, NY 10013 (Nolita)

I first came here because I saw these cool cups on Instagram. Maman has one of the cutest cafe interiors, and I couldn't resist stopping by on a freezing winter afternoon after taking photos earlier that evening.

Grace Street (K-Town)

17 W 32nd St, New York, NY 10001

Grace Street is one of the hottest spots in Korea Town to grab a quick drink or stop by for a dessert date with friends. They serve up a delicious matcha latte as well as green tea shaved snow!

Cafe Jax

318 E 84th St, New York, NY 10028

Cafe Jax is the perfect hot spot for getting your work done while enjoying a piping hot latte and a donut. The lattes here are huge and we thoroughly enjoyed our mocha and matcha while discussing new blog topics to write about!

Chalait

1216 Broadway, New York, NY 10001

299 W Houston Street New York, NY 10014

Chalait is one of the first places I in NYC where I discovered my love for matcha. There are a few locations in the city,

I could really go on for hours and hours about how much matcha I have eaten and drank up to this point in my life. There are many more places we haven't included in this list but I wanted to share with you the most memorable hot spots! Matcha lattes will always be one of my favorite drinks, and when I'm too lazy to make them at home or want to treat myself, I am always matcha-ready. Let the quest to the find the best continue!
