Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone! During this holiday, we celebrate those who have died protecting our country and remember them for their honorable sacrifice while serving in the armed forces. As I grow older and more aware, this holiday, and many others, have taken on more significant meaning in my life. Being in Boston during this weekend is special, but I will be sharing a Boston post next week detailing my weekend here with my family and Dasher!
Today, I wanted to share a new lookbook with you guys featuring this beautiful midi dress from Anthropologie. There's nothing I love more than wearing a loose, comfortable dress in the summer, especially when it gets hot and humid and all you want to do is breathe while you're waiting on the platform for the N train to come. I personally feel my best in a midi skirt or dress because I find them to be a very flattering fit on my petite frame, highlights the smallest part of my waist, and is covered enough that I can even wear it to work with a cardigan on top.
This summer, I am aiming to wear more colors and mix and match patterns, so I started early by choosing a leopard mule to pair with this striped blush dress. I've been wanting to incorporate animal patterns subtly into my wardrobe for a long time, so these new shoes definitely do the trick! I basically wore them all week into the office paired with more neutral colored clothing, and I just love how much of a statement piece they are.
On this particular Sunday, I went on an early run through Union Square and then up to Flatiron with Blake, and finally went to a gym class nearby by 9am. Later that afternoon, we walked around Greenwich Village together to find a cool shooting location, and then headed to Think Coffee to grab a mocha while he studied for his upcoming test and I looked up flights on Delta (typical). My time in New York seems to be much more limited these days, so I look forward to every sunny afternoon I get in my city to explore and bask in the sun. I can't wait for more of these days this summer!
