Americans spent almost 20 Billion dollars last year for Valentine's Day. I repeat. That's 20 BILLION DOLLARS!!! While I personally believe that Valentine's Day is just another day that has been created into a social holiday for marketing and a way to get consumers to spend more dough, a part of me secretly loves it. Love and affection should be shown every day through words and actions, but it's kind of nice that there's a separate day set aside for a little extra love, a few more pink hearts everywhere, and an excuse to go out and celebrate L O V E. Whether you're single, in a relationship, or as many New Yorkers would call in a "complicated situation", you can still celebrate the occasion. It can be anything from a romantic night out with your significant other or a Galentine's day brunch with your girlfriends to sipping a cosmo by the fire with you dog, or simply texting your family a few extra bitmojis with you sitting on a cartoon heart.
My love language has always leaned more toward quality time, physical touch, and acts of service, but I do think that physical gifts are important every once in a while. It's something that you can see in your apartment or room and be reminded of the person and story behind the gift. You don't have to spent a lot of money on something in order to show someone how much you care or love them. It's really more about the gesture, the details you pay attention to in your conversations, and the thought the you put into picking something special out just for them.
When it comes to picking out the perfect gift for the gals and guys in your life or just for yourself (because YOU should love YOU more than anyone else), look no further than this universal guide for all your Valentine's Day needs. While these hand-selected picks are fab for February 14th, they're honestly all great options for birthdays, holidays, or even just-because gifts, which are my favorite to give all year round!
Happy early Valentine's Day Lovebugs!
