Fashion and style bloggers have taken over the social media scene the last few years, and we have some serious girl crushes when it comes to those who inspire us to dress to impress. Here are a few of our favorite blogs of all time and the bloggers behind them! We follow our top picks with a full Casual Classics lookbook featuring some beautiful pieces from Dezzal.com, so keep scrolling after the reads :)
Wendy Nguyen - Wendy's Lookbook (Jess): Wendy was one of the first people I ever started watching on Youtube back in the day because I absolutely loved her creative and stunning fashion videos that are very inspiring to say the least. Watch her video "10 Essential Closet Items with Magic" and tell me you don't see your basics in a different way after! She's classy, glamorous, and so relatable, and I've loved watching her style evolve through her blog posts and incredible, curated Instagram (@wendyslookbook). Wendy has a way of doing a lookbook that absolutely sets her apart from the rest of the pack, and her fashion sense and personal style most resembles what I think of as #goals. She sets the bar so high, and we hope to bump into her one day in the city!
Rachel Parcell - Pink Peonies (Jess): I stumbled upon one of Rach's posts on Instagram over 3 years ago as one of the suggested photos to like on my feed. She has pretty much one of the most beautiful closets and home office space that a girl could dream about, and her fashion sense is also right on par with what I absolutely love - classic, girly, with a dash of sophistication. Although Rach is young and has barely reached her mid twenties, she already has two young children, a beautiful home, and a dog that happens to also be named Dasher like my very own maltese! She rules the fashion scene in Utah and around the world, and rakes in almost $1M a year from running her blog. She may not be the most relatable gal on the block, but she sure serves up a heavy dose of inspo. You go girl!
Amber Fillerup - Barefoot Blonde (Jess)
Amber is probably most known for her gorgeous blonde locks and the Youtube tutorials she makes showing girls all around the world how to rock a beautiful braid. She is also a young mom, much like Rachel, since she is also only in her mid 20's with 2 young children. We absolutely love how effortless she makes motherhood seem, and we are amazed at how she can do it all looking absolutely perfect and put-together all the time. Amber lives in NYC with her family, and we take a lot of inspiration from her blog and Instagram when it comes to scoping out new places to visit in the city or food spots to check out. Amber and her family also love taking vacations, and no one can capture those exotic getaways quite like the Fillerups can.
Aimee Song - Song of Style: (Mel) Aimee Song was the first blogger I heavily followed back in 2009, and she remains one of our key inspiration sources today. I remember browsing her site on a Sunday night my freshman year of high school and using her outfits as inspiration when creating my own looks for the upcoming school week. It is honestly amazing to be able to follow her journey for so many years and watch her turn a hobby into a business and a brand. From her 4 million Instagram followers, to her partnership with Laura Mercier and other brands, and her book (Capture Your Style), she is one of the most famous and successful bloggers in the industry today...
P.S. I actually had an opportunity to meet her in September during her book signing at Bloomingdale's and she is so sweet and down to earth!
Jean Wang - Extra Petite: (Mel) Since the start of our careers a couple of months ago, the majority of our wardrobe is dedicated to the 9-5 daily grind and we always find ourselves scrolling through Jean’s Instagram for some inspiration. I first discovered her my sophomore year of college, when I was browsing on Pinterest looking for the perfect outfit for my first corporate internship. Jean worked in the corporate world for several of years, making her incredibly relatable to the every-day woman. However, her blog eventually gained enough traffic and she was able to pursue it full time. Although Jean may not be working the typical desk job anymore, she does keep her audience in mind and makes sure that the majority of her looks today still revolve around work wear. Loft, Banana Republic, and Nordstrom are some of the most common brands she partners up with, making her blog a more budget friendly and “realistic” platform than some of the other top bloggers in the industry!
P.S. Jean also focuses on tailoring for Petite girls, so def check her out if you need some tips on fit!
Jenny Cipoletti - Margo & Me: On the opposite spectrum of Jean Wang is Jenny Cipoletti, a former PR stylist behind the French inspired blog, Margo & Me. The outfits, bags, and shoes Jenny showcases on her blog are definitely items that won’t be found in a typical closet since the majority of her clothes are designer and therefore, are quite pricey. Jenny’s blog resembles more of an editorial approach and aesthetic, and while it may not be very relatable or realistic to your average 22 year old, Jenny provides one of the best blogs for inspiration. She also recently started a Youtube channel and aside from making some of the most visually pleasing videos: her three ways to style the ruffle is one of my favorite videos of all time (link here), she also gives some awesome and very helpful tips to all those bloggers out there!
Our Casual Classics Lookbook!
Since we are always so inspired by the bloggers we follow on social media and through their blogs, we are constantly pushing ourselves to show off our style in new and creative ways!
Jess: If you've been following this blog since our creation back in April, then you may know that I have been rocking pink a lot this past year. I actually don't own any pink pants, let alone work trousers, so these were a special and unique purchase for me! I love the petite section at Topshop since everything fits just a bit more proportionately on my short 5'3 frame. I tend to shop there pretty often for bottoms since those are always a problem item for me! These pants are super high waisted, which I love, since I can tuck any top into them and throw on a blazer, and I have a pulled together look for work in a pinch. This top was one that I found on Dezzal.com and I immediately fell in love with it. The puffy sleeves and bow wrap adds a lot of dimension, and I really appreciate how versatile it is since I can wear it both casually and to work with the right bottoms. Pink & blue is actually a gorgeous color pairing, and I thought a pair of blue suede block pumps would pull together the whole look just right.
Mel: For this look, I was inspired by Jenny Cipoletti's sophisticated, Parisian style and chose a black lace jumpsuit for a day of touring some of Jess's favorite spots in Brooklyn. This jumpsuit is from Dezzal.com who graciously offered us a few items to try and review for our blog and while we do love the style and look of the pieces, we found that sizing and quality varies depending on the exact item you order. We recommend paying close attention to the sizing measurements on the site since the pieces we chose ran a bit smaller than the average U.S. sizing guide. The jumpsuit is actually a dupe for the $480 jumpsuit from Self Portrait and while I do love trying the look for a significantly lesser price, you can definitely tell the difference of the two pieces in terms of quality. Since the jumpsuit is pretty eye-catching itself, I forged the accessories and instead finished the look off with a pair of pastel blue fringed block heeled sandals from Steve Madden!
