A Thanksgiving Lookbook & Reflection

November 21, 2018

It's not even Thanksgiving yet, and I've already brined and roasted 1 turkey, devoured an apple cider doughnut for lunch, and drank too many cups of honeycrisp cider that I'm watching cardio videos on YouTube to prep for a pre-Thanksgiving meal later tonight. Sure I'd trade the 27 degree weather for some island weather, but I don't mind cozying up to Dasher and working my last few hours at home in my PJs either. This time of year has always been nostalgic for me in different ways. I've spent Thanksgivings mainly in New York and New Jersey with friends and family, and even one year in Austria, where I hosted a Friendsgiving in my dorm kitchen and cooked chicken thighs because turkey could not be found anywhere in Vienna. And while Turkey day and Christmas season heightens the idea of giving thanks, as cheesy as this sound sounds, I thank my lucky stars every day that I have the life that I live.

There's always more to aspire to, and I have bigger dreams for my future and my career, but for now I can't ask for too much more. My family is healthy, my doggy is happy, my boyfriend is incredible, I live in the greatest city in the world, and I've been able to travel whenever and wherever my heart desires. I'm looking forward to doing a 2018 recap at the end of the year, but I'll give you some of my thoughts for now.

This year has been pretty tough for me in different ways. I've dealt with family issues and my grandparents' health issues on top of an emotionally draining few (continuous) months on the road. Sometimes, I catch myself dazing off (in Ubers, on planes), and I feel simply overwhelmed by all that I want to do and what I haven't done yet to reach that potential. But then I find myself again, and realize how damn lucky I am to be loved and nothing but time to aimlessly roam my city, just like on this random Monday with my love.

Brace yourself kids, winter is coming! I'll be traveling again soon, but for now it's so nice not to have to worry about where my suitcase is.

Thank YOU so much for reading, and have a wonderful thanksgiving filled with family, friends, joy, laughter, and my favorite, cranberry sauce.

P.S. I've been living in this Anthropologie scarf and these new booties from Tory Burch are to die for! I can't wait to rock them this season because I know I won't be walking 10 miles a day in the cold, and I can slowly break them in!
